Executive Director
Sylvester Ragland
Sylvester Ragland is the Executive Director and co-founder of Empowered Hands. Raised in Indiana, he was inspired by his grandmother’s ministry, “All About Souls,” which served vulnerable communities with compassion and care. At 21, Sylvester co-founded Empowered Hands with his brother to continue that legacy of service.
While studying at Grand Canyon University, he deepened his commitment to supporting the homeless, combining outreach with faith-based ministry. He is also the founder and CEO of Vigor & Vitality Global Fitness LLC, promoting health and wellness as part of holistic community uplift. Now based in Arizona, Sylvester leads with purpose through both nonprofit and entrepreneurial efforts.
Director of Operations
Karess Melanie
Originally from New York and currently based in Arizona, Karess has always believed in the power of service to uplift communities. From leading student organizations to producing impactful storytelling through media, she's been driven by a desire to create systems that make helping others more intentional and sustainable.
As Director of Operations, Karess ensures the heart behind Empowered Hands is supported by strong planning and execution.
She manages daily logistics, volunteer coordination, and long-term strategy. Turning ideas into action and ensuring the team can serve with consistency and care. Karess also advocates for representation and truth in media. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment tol meeting both the physical and emotional needs of all communities.
Director of Finance
Tajilynn Karim
Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, Tajilynn Karim is passionate about service, financial literacy, and uplifting her community. As an aspiring financial advisor, she is committed to expanding access to financial education and helping others feel empowered in their futures.
As Director of Finance for Empowered Hands, Tajilynn supports budgeting, financial planning, and sustainable resource management. She has always been committed to helping those in need in whatever way she can, with leadership rooted in compassion and care.
Director of Outreach
Antanette Griffith
Antanette Griffith is a Psychology student at Arizona State University minoring in Educational Studies and Family and Human Development. Her passion for education comes from her belief that every student deserves support, opportunity, and mentorship that helps them succeed academically and personally. Through her studies and experiences, she has become committed to educational equity and supporting underserved communities.
Antanette currently serves as the Director of Outreach for Empowered Hands where she leads outreach initiatives, coordinates service projects, and helps connect families with resources and support services. She also serves as the Vice-President of the ASU Women’s Coalition where she advocates for women on campus and helps create a safe and empowering environment for students. In the future, she plans to work as an educator in low-income communities and mentor inner-city youth through advocacy and accessible education.
Director of Marketing
Nate Thivierge
Nate Thivierge serves as the Director of Marketing for Empowered Hands while pursuing his studies in Marketing and Business Law at Arizona State University. With a strong passion for creative strategy, brand communication, and audience engagement, Nate focuses on developing campaigns that build authentic connections and leave a lasting impact. He enjoys blending creativity with strategic thinking to help organizations grow their presence and strengthen their message.
Known for his collaborative and energetic approach, Nate is committed to fostering a workplace culture that is engaging, innovative, and team-oriented. Whether leading marketing initiatives, developing brand content, or supporting organizational goals, he strives to create meaningful experiences that inspire both clients and colleagues alike.
